Monday was a rest day again and thank doG for that as I woke up with really sore lower back and it only got worse as the day went by. I did some yoga to help with it but it didn't seem to give me much relief.
Tuesday was a double day again. Morning strength and then afternoon run. My back felt bit better but still pretty sore. I did some new exercises and went 20mins over of what I was supposed to do. And I told myself I'm gonna stick to the 45mins next time. 60mins easy definitely didn't feel easy. I was so over it before I even started cause of the weather. Ugh.
Wednesday had those hill sprints again. With bit more recovery between each rep. The weather was bit warmer so that was nice. I felt pretty good about that one and didn't die this time. My back tho was not happy again to the point where I asked for recommendations for physio. Didn't book any yet...
Thursday was one of those terrible days again. I didn't wanna run at all, it was freezing and it was lightly snowing. I had 60mins easy run with WU/CD and 3 sets of strides at the end. I wasn't even 30mins in and I wanted to quit. I was like Why am I doing this, this sucks. It wasn't hard physically obviously, but mentally. It was just a slog and I was thinking how am I gonna run for another at least 20mins till the strides. My legs also felt pretty heavy/sore. Well I finished the run but it wasn't fun.
Fridayyyy rest day!
Saturday I had Prairie Double. It's probably one of my favorite runs to do. I was excited about it when I first saw it on the calendar. Well that changed after it was -25 in the morning. I waited till later, noon to go and I was not pumped at all. I usually don't mind the weather but for some reason this past week was exceptionally tough. And it was saying it's gonna be cloudy and maybe some snow. If I wasn't coached, I'd stay at home. When I arrived it was only -16. So not that bad and it was sunny. The plan was to run both laps as close in time to each other as possible. So I started kinda slowly to warm up and also not to push it too hard to be able to keep up that pace on lap 2. I felt really warm pretty quickly. It was kinda annoying actually hah. I felt like I was going bit too fast, the effort felt harder than it should. I got up in 1:01. Spent 10mins at the top to soak it all in cause it was just so gorgeous out there and I was there alone and also to make some stupid videos hahah. Got back down in 28mins. Had to refill my bottles and also decided to change my tshirt. And I was out for lap 2. I felt like I was going SO slow. Steady but slow. I even felt pretty weak so I had one gel while also sipping on my high carb mix. To my surprise, I got to the top in 1:02, so only 1min30sec slower than the first time! And that's not bad at all. Way down was also on the easier side but got there in 29mins. I was again proud of this effort. Not ideal conditions but I still got it done. Quote for the day was: IF IT WAS EASY, EVERYONE WOULD DO IT.
Finished week 2 with another recovery shuffle. 50mins this time. My quads were super sore, gotta love that downhill on Prairie, yikes. I also had to do "mountain legs" before my run which is 25x/leg reverse lunges and 20 single leg step ups, I do that 3x a week. That was hell honestly and I wasn't sure how the heck am I gonna run for 50mins after that π . But the easy shuffle was actually pretty gentle to the quads. If it wasn't so freakin cold, I'd almost even enjoy it. Hah. Week 2 done now, next one looks bit easier but more mileage. Weather should improve by Wednesday so let's hope that true! LET'S GOOO!
