WEEK 10/33 ABOUT TIME TO GO GABI

Mondays are days off right. Well what a surprise when I opened my TP first thing in the morning and saw a strength session for today. I didn't plan for that so I had to squeeze it in right after work and before my scheduled call with coach. It was bit hectic but I got it done and just as I was stretching, the call started. I felt weak again which now I'm really like wtf, what is this, why is this happening... really not sure, I should be getting better with weights, it should feel easier and it's just getting worse.
I had few questions for coach that I wanted to discuss. I needed some reassurance I guess that we are still on the right path and that what he has seen so far in my performance, is enough to keep going and would take me to the finish of BVU. He is in good spirits and has high hopes hah, me not so much, but I know he is right and I do try really hard to trust the process. I'm glad we really understand each other tho, nothing feels pressured, everything is running smoothly. Yay!

I felt tired through the day on Tuesday. Going up stairs made my legs burn and I had to catch few breaths, like from what? :D Today's run was supposed to be 40mins of active work with 4x30sec strides, WU and CD. I wanted to see if I am actually tired so I went bit too fast. Yeah, I was tired indeed. It felt way harder than an easy, conversational pace. Why are runners so stupid...:D

Wednesday was a double day as usual? Yup. Morning strength with an easy 45mins run later. I did mainly core with some single leg stuff and some arms. Still not feeling strong. I actually told myself this run is gonna be easy! I started hot again but then I really tried to run slow. Which after a little bit felt even harder than running without looking at my watch. I ran so slow that it felt super hard :D. Running IS stupid!

Thursdays means that Lucy wants to go for a walk. So after getting home kinda late, we took her for a walk. It wasn't too long but it already put me for a really late run. I also had to get dinner ready before I left so I didn't get out the door till 7pm. Which is pretty late for me, I don't like to run this late, I even thought about doing it tomorrow morning instead, but I'm glad I didn't. I thought maybe at least it's not gonna be as warm. Wrong. It was hot AF. I hate warm weather. No jacket means no pockets and no space to put stuff in. Ugh. Second progression run on the schedule. I went out easier and was trying to keep it that way. It felt bit better than the last one, I was checking my pace quite often but it wasn't too bad. It was still a lot of up&down, especially on the last 2. I thought there is just a cool down after the 4K progression so I was caught off guard when I saw another 10mins active, the first few mins felt kinda hard hah. But I managed.

At least Friday was an actual rest day.

Saturday = mountain day! Weather changed and it didn't look very good so I had to go early to at least try to outrun the coming snow. It was quite nice when I started. Trail conditions were all over the place tho. Dry, snow, mud, ice...classic spring. I felt bit uneasy before I started cause bears are out again and twice in a row I ran into certain people on Prairie... but usually, as soon as I start running, all these thoughts are gone. There was barely anyone on these trails. And luckily, I didn't see any suspicious animal prints in the mud either. I was taking it kinda easy, having some fun with getting videos. Until I realized there is this bridge I gotta cross... I'll try to link the video on my IG here if you wanna know what I'm talking about :)).
It made my day honestly. With noone around and me being alone, these silly ideas make these runs way more enjoyable. I was trying new nutrition today too - Maurten 320 drink mix. It doesn't really have a taste but it's thicker than just water so that was kinda weird. I also decided to try to take Pepto Bismol if my stomach starts to feel weird. Which it did only 30mins into the run. But Pepto worked I guess and it went away (I took another one at around 3hrs into the run). As I started to go up Prairie from the backside and looked at my watch, I was like Hmm, this might not be what coach meant for me to do, I was almost at the time I had in my TP and I still had to finish this loop and go up again. I also didn't bring enough water. I had 2 bottles with Maurten but then only one refill in Rviita pouch and it wasn't enough so I didn't drink as much which also meant not taking as many gels or really anything cause I need to drink quite a bit after that. I didn't feel very strong on the uphills but I felt quite great on those runnable sections of Prairie Creek. I had half of PB&J sandwich which was also new :D. No issues. Weather was still pretty good even tho it snowed a little on my way up to Prairie but then there was barely any wind at the top and it was quite warm. Got back to the car and was seriously questioning if I should go up again. I was tired. But thought Maybe just a half way? Yeah I think I can do that. I went really slow tho. Already past the half point, it started to snow. And as I got out of the trees, it was a blizzard out there. I put my jacket on. Few mins later I had to put on my neckwarmer/face cover too. The snow was blowing! Couldn't really see where I was going, but turning around wasn't an option. I don't stop when it gets hard. I stop when I get it done. And that was summiting again, so I pushed through and finished what I started. No views, wind and snow but whatever haha. Way down was slow too. No rush. Prescribed about 3hrs turned into over 5.5hrs on trails today. It was about time to #goGabi. Now coach can actually have a reason to say I'm not following the plan hahaha. But he was impressed at what I laid down today and happy for me! I was honestly just glad that the nutrition worked pretty well for such a long day! Even tho I could definitely fuel better and more after I drank those 2 bottles if I had more water. Next time!

Recovery shuffle or hike. It was Piglet's time to go out! So hike it was for today. The ol Fullerton loop. I wanted to extend it on Bobcat/Sugarmama but Lucy wasn't into that so after dragging her a bit on Bobcat, we just turned around and came back. Still, almost 8K and more than 2hrs outside in pretty beautiful weather was enough for today.

53.8K run + 7.9K hike / 10:46 total time
