WEEK 9/33 IT'S OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL

Today, Monday the 31st, I made it official. I officially signed up for the BVU 100M (tbh it was official to me since the day I decided to do this but today, they actually opened the registration which means the race is happening - they were waiting for permits etc)! Whoa! There is no way back now. Like there wasn't anyways hah. Let's do this!!! It was supposed to be my rest day - which was, kinda. I may or may not have done some yoga but also about 25mins core work. Do not tell my coach :D.

After reviewing my plan for this week, I spotted something new. Progression run. I have never done that! I was thinking about it bit too much maybe, about the pacing and how that's gonna go. I was bit nervous. But also excited to give it a go. It was beautiful day all day. Sunny, just perfect. Until I got home from work. And it started raining. Of course. Big workout and of course the weather's gonna go to sh*t... I was even thinking if I should try to do it on treadmill haha but that didn't live very long. When I opened the door I saw it's not a rain anymore, it was these huuuge, heavy snowflakes...with some rain. Well I would take snow over rain any day. I got soaked within the first 15mins. And then it stopped. And it was actually quite nice for the rest of the run hah. It went well too. I could not hold my pace tho. I had a plan and didn't want to go too fast on the first and second K so I was watching my pace a LOT! Because I started pretty fast and it didn't feel fast. But then I was just like F this, let's just run the 3rd and maybe the 4th on feel. And so I did and nailed it almost perfectly. The last one was definitely bit faster than I would like to but I didn't die so whateverrrr. All good and it was fun! It's always nice to do something new that you may be little bit afraid off and then just nail it! It feels great!

I don't know what the heck is wrong with Wednesdays mornings and my strength, but again, like last week, I felt incredibly weak. Not as bad as the last one but almost the same. So freakin strange. I also had an 45mins easy run for the day, which I did and also felt pretty tired. But it was supposed to be easy, so I took it easy.

We had some intervals on schedule for Thursday! Just 3 and for 3mins but I wasn't sure how fast am I gonna be able to do them after yesterday. I went bit hot from the beginning as I felt pretty good, even on the first 25mins that was supposed to be easy. It wasn't as fast as I could go on those intervals but I tried to make them even and be more consistent than just go out really fast and then gas out at the end. It went pretty good I think, I was happy with it. The one thing I really like about working with Evan and his training plan - which is completely different from everything I've done before - is that after I run those intervals, the work is not over. I still have like a 20mins or so of easy/active run and then usually cool down. It messes with my head a bit as I'm always like how am I gonna do another 20mins of work after this but it's actually kinda genius and it teaches me a lot! I thought there was a CD today but it wasn't haha. I may or may not have gone for bit longer than I should hah.

With the warm weather coming and after the recent bigger snowfall, it was kinda tough to pick where to go for my long run. Thankfully, Prairie is always good to go. Sorta. When I started in the morning everything was still nice and frozen. I was planning to go slightly different way than I've been lately - the shorter/steeper start. And I was planning to push it and try to lower my time or at least be as close to it as possible. I didn't think I was going as fast but like after 2K I gassed out. There was nothing in the tank. I felt like Skratch wasn't cutting for this either. I ate half of a gel which maybe help a little bit but not really. It just wasn't there. Sad. But it is what it is. I also had another great idea to go down the other side and come back instead of doing the classic up&down twice. There was way more snow on the other side, like deeper, softer snow. And then it was just ice under thinner layer of snow and frozen over footprints. So great way how to twist your ankle or just make your running very miserable. I went slow. I didn't care anymore. Same on the way back up, it was just a slog, one foot in front of the other. The weather was beautiful tho. So amazing. I had a bit of a break at the top to talk to a friend so I enjoyed the sunshine even more. I was hoping to try to send it on the way down again but the conditions were absolutely horrible and it was so busy so instead I went slow haha. To save my quads for tomorrow... I feel like I'm not getting better which is bit frustrating right now. But hopefully it will come all together...one day.

I was told no recovery shuffle if I go hiking cause I'd most likely be moving for more than 45mins anyways. It was Piglet's time! I wanted to take her up Prairie  cause the weather looked fabulous again. Bit worried how she would handle it but I was also ready to just turn around if she needed to. Maybe I was questioning my choices a little bit in certain sections but luckily, Piglet is pretty slow these days and have these sniffing stops so I think it was actually perfect recovery hike, minus the elevation gain maybe. We made it all the way to the top, had longer stop there to soak it all in and obviously take hundreds of pictures and then slowly started to go down. And I mean slowly. The way down took us probably longer than the way up. Was nice to meet so many familiar faces there today too, nice to chatting with everyone. I'm just so glad when things work out with her and we have a decent hike. It's not always, so I don't take these summits for granted anymore. They are all just bonuses. Today was perfect.

I'm ready for week 9. Coach said something about being "on carbs" from his own training so I'm little bit worried what I'm gonna get haha. Let's go tho!
