WEEK 21/33 FAST AF BOIIII

I did nothing. I was planning all the things like strength, yoga etc but got home late and had zero desire to do anything. Tomorrow is also a day, right? Not to mention, I was supposed to do nothing anyways :D.

First workout of the week! 3 by 5mins intervals. I picked a new spot for it, pretty straight part along the road. Haven't done intervals there before but thought it would be good. I didn't wanna go again. Tuesdays are always tough especially if I don't do anything on Monday. I know that but I still choose not to do anything, I'm the worst! But got out the door eventually. The first 30mins of warm up felt pretty meh and I wasn't excited about trying to run hard for 3x 5mins. But went for it and felt pretty okay, it was hard but I thought it went actually pretty good, pace was looking fast! The second interval felt obviously worse but still very manageable. Okay, 5 more mins, I can do this! As I started the last one, only few seconds in and my legs were on fire. It got so freakin hard so freakin fast. I looked at my watch hoping I had only like 1min left as my legs were already falling off and I was grasping for air, only to find out I still have more than 2mins to go. I was trying to hold on so bad! I did and I was proud of that but it was HARD! I still had 15mins to finish the run after. What a surprise when I ended my run to see that I just ran my fastest K ever! 10sec faster than the last time I did this about 2 weeks ago (and that one was definitely more downhill) and way way better on all 3 of these intervals if I compare them to when I did them in March. Considering that we are not doing any specific speed workouts or aiming for speed, I can't be more pumped!

Hill repeats! And all 8 of them. I was kinda excited about this after the yesterday's success but as I was running towards my hill I also realized that it's the second workout in a row and I usually have easy day between workouts. Gotta start bit slower on these then and try to hold on! It felt hard and legs didn't want to move very fast. 1min recovery wasn't really enough. But I was pushing through. As I had only 2 more to go I was really thinking about taking an extra break. Cause I did it last time. And cause I always want to be the fastest on my last rep. But I sucked it up. I embrace the pain. Cause I'm no b*tch. Right. I still got my 2 fastest reps anyways! That was hard but I did it! Cookies in the jar...

60mins easy was just like that. It didn't feel very easy after those 2 pretty intense days but I got it done. Rest day tomorrow, thank doG!

Had few plans for Saturday, coach wanted me to do Bourgeau again hahah but I'm not comfortable going there by myself especially after someone posted 2 grizzlies on the trail not too long ago and not to mention Western States! I wanted something closer to home so I can be back sooner to watch hah. So, I opted to do Powderface Ridge/Creek/Prairie - that loop again. I knew there will be runners doing the marathon. I kinda wanted a revange from the last time I felt so not great and didn't even go all the way to the next summit on Powderface. I was quite pumped for this one after such solid week! Started around 8am, after few of the first runners passed by. It was bit cool. Not even few mins in a my calves/achilles started to hurt again. This happened before and I have no idea why does it happen. The last 2 runs or so I didn't have issues but before I have. It usually goes away after a while but it HURTS! So while I was planning to run faster and strong in the beginning on the most runnable parts of Powderface Creek, I was just walking cause it was just horrible. In race or not, when everyone is passing you, it feels bad πŸ˜…. Conditions weren't great either, so much water everywhere! There were little creeks in spots I haven't seen before 🀣. Very muddy, slow. Anyways, after about 40mins the pain finally went away. I was moving but maybe not as great as I hoped for. My stomach was also going south so I decided to stop, take care of it. Which helped and I didn't have any issues after, whew. After reaching the first summit on Powderface I kept going to the East one. Lots of fallen trees and more muddy sections. It was fine tho, barely anyone on the trail. I got there, checked my watch - over 11K with 800m of EG in almost 2hrs?! How pathetic! This must be joke right...I didn't feel strong at all or prepared for 50K race...Had a chance to check what's going on at WSER cause there is service at the top 🀣. Stayed for a bit and then I was on my way back. At first I felt pretty good and then like crap again. Not like crap just tired, didn't have the will to push and run some sections that I could definitely do a little joggy jog instead of just walk. Going up Prairie Link felt actually quite nice, I felt stronger there. Going down I sent it. Like too much to the point where I had to really slow down cause I was out of breath haha. But I was able to manage it pretty well. Took a little break to refill my bottles before the climb up backside of Prairie. It was such a slog! It was getting warm and I was just done. Made it to the top and went down. Not very fast, my legs were not happy running such a long downhill at the end of this. Last long run completed. Don't feel like I can run another 20K at all. But funny enough, when I uploaded my run to Strava, I got 2 PR's and 3 segments with 10,9&8 overall which I thought was hilarious!

Sunday recovery shuffle was solid. Really warm but I guess heat training has started? Another week done.
