WEEK 30/33 TRAINING CAMP WEEKEND #1

Started the week with nice progression run. I haven't gone Gabi in a while so I  changed the workout a little bit. In the plan, it was 10mins WU and then progression over the next 6K. But I didn't wanna do that haha. So I basically went for progression from the first K all the way to 10K. It was a slow one, with very small increments in the speed but it was a progression run and the graph afterwards looked like a master piece haha. I was pretty happy with it.

I had 70mins run with strides on the plan today. But...my right thigh started to hurt in a weird way. At first it was just a little but it was getting worse. I thought I'd push through it or it would go away. But it didn't. I wasn't sure what to do at first but I quickly realize there is no reason to keep pushing it so I slowed down and jogged home. It feels really weird. Like in the same area where I had the groin strain or whatever that was but also more like deeper in the muscle/bone. I hope it goes away. I have a rest day tomorrow. And big weekend in front of me too. Damn. Please, not now!

I did some yoga to hopefully help with some of the pain. It feels better but definitely not 100%. I have 2hrs run tomorrow to start my first training weekend. Bit worried but if it hurts again, I'll just stop.

Well, that was terrible hahah. In a way. Leg hurt when I started running but it was about 3/4 so nothing too crazy and as I went on it slowly faded away. I still could feel there is something there but it wasn't like I had to stop or slow down because of it. Not gonna lie, this run wasn't very enjoyable. Trying to do 2hrs around the house so early in the morning was kinda tough. 70-80mins are no problem to squeeze around here but 2hrs ... and when you also need to use a bathroom :D. I ended up running small circles around the bathroom cause these a**holes were late today, out of all days, to open it! Like of course haha. But! I saw a skunk! Hahah I love them and he was so close too. That made my day. Day 1 is done! And tomorrow is definitely on! Let's gooo!

8hrs run. Well Lake O'hara it is. Again haha. It's gonna be actually quite challenging to do lots of KM's there. My plan for today is to run as many trails that I haven't done before as possible. Starting with Wiwaxy Gap and then go around and do Opabin lake and some other side trails. When I got to the parking, it was raining a little bit. Hah. I wasn't expecting that. I also didn't bring much of warmer clothes, it was saying it's gonna be nice and warm. Gonna wing it. I started on the road with not many people around, just another trail running couple. I wasn't planning to push it, but I was definitely trying to be more intentional with where I run vs where I walk. So I did little intervals from tree to tree etc, running where I would maybe normally just walk but I was trying to simulate race/bigger effort while still keeping it on the easier side. When I got to about 5K in I see all these dark clouds rolling in and I'm thinking I'm gonna get rain on and I left my rain poncho in the car. But as I got closer to the lake it never actually rained on me. It was quite chilly there tho. Quick stop for pics and I was on my way to Wiwaxy Gap. Ugh okay, that started steep very fast haha. Little switchbacks but still steep AF. I saw this other couple that were also runners behind me. Damn, gotta go! They can't catch me haha. This route was spectacular! Hard, steep but the views! I even saw one mountain goat way up there. Weather actually turned out pretty good and there was barely any wind at the top, it was perfect. The way down to Lake Oesa was pretty technical, with lots of rocks so I took it easy, I definitely don't want to sprain my ankle now. Up again through Yukness ledges, route I've done twice before but both times the other way. I stopped to filter my water but my filter decided not to really work and it was super slow to filter anything. I spent way too much time there and also noticed that the bottle has a tiny hole in it, great. So I kept going while filtering. I met some people on the trail and we had a little chat. Made me realize how lucky I am to be there. How grateful I should be that my body allows me to run up the road, around there and all the way back. Most people can not do that. And most people will never experience the beauty of this place because it's so damn hard to get the bus tickets. It changed my attitude for the rest of the run. I surely am extremely blessed to be running here. I made it to Hungabee lake and from there I went to check out Opabin lake - never been there before. There is a little looped trail that you can take. And then, another new trail around some of these smaller lakes that took me down to Lake O'hara. I ran along the shore and then decided to go up towards Lake McArthur. It was a battle on the way there as to if I should go up there or if I should do All Souls instead. I knew I'm not gonna have time for both most likely. I went to Lake McArthur. At first I thought just to the first viewpoint but I ended up at the lake anyways. Stopped for pics/videos. I love this spot, this lake is so beautiful! And I was on my way back. Got to the intersection with All Souls. Well I went for it anyways. I hoped I could possibly summit but about half way up I knew it's way too much for me today so I stopped. I played it safe and smart. I still have a 3hrs run tomorrow afterall. And the whole way down to the parking lot :D. Which went quite okay. And with 5K to go, I decided to make it even more fun haha --> 5K to go

What a day! Not sure how am I gonna run for another 3hrs tomorrow but we will find out...

Moose Mountain. That's what I picked for my 3hrs run today. I thought that would be enough. I felt tired. And sore. But. Not as bad as I expected. It was warm. I was there to just get it done. But I was moving pretty well. I made it to the top in a good time and still had lots to spare. And noone was there. So I spent some time taking pics and videos and then I was planning to go to one of the other summits. But as I started to go down this scree, with no apparent trail and pretty long way down and then up again, I decided it's not actually worth it to me and I don't wanna be going down and then up this crap again. So I turned around and went back. It was a pretty good day. I can't believe I was able to pull this off. 3 days of running. Like wow. I also ended August with little bit over 400K of running! I've never run so much. My other months were around 275K. So grateful my body is still holding on. One more tough week and then it's taper time wohoooo, I can't wait!
